James Marsden reveals country past

Crayen      news      Comments Off on James Marsden reveals country past

The Enchanted actor and former Versace model confessed he used to be a singer in a cheesy band when he was first starting out.

Speaking at A Fine Romance, a charity fundraiser of celebrity performances honouring musicals from stage and screen, James said: “I was in Oklahoma so I was in a country band called Trailblazers or something embarrassing like that.”

He joked that he and Hugh Jackman – who was also at the event – could work together in music, laughing: “We could do the X-Men duet.”

James admitted he had always loved singing.

“I took lessons, well it’s always been a hobby of mine. I was in choir, things like that and I always kept it as a hobby. People might be surprised,” he explained.

“It wasn’t necessarily musical theatre, although I do have a great affection for it. I grew up listening to Sinatra and Nat King Cole. I knew all the standards and I started realising they were from shows and that’s what opened my eyes to the whole thing.”
