James Marsden Gives Ryan Gosling And Eva Mendes Baby Advice: “Just Make It Through The First Year!”
The Best of Me actor, who starred alongside Gosling in The Notebook, dishes out parenting advice to the new dad who recently had his first child with the actress.
He’s following in the footsteps of Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum by taking the male lead in a Nicholas Sparks film.
But one thing that 41-year-old actor James Marsden has on his predecessors is parenting experience, as a father of three.
Speaking to Yahoo Celebrity at the launch of his new film ‘The Best of Me’, the Oklahoma native dished out some advice to new parents, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes.
“Make it through the first year! You’ll get your sleep eventually,” he told us.
“You go through those sleep-deprived months where you don’t know who you are or where you are, or what’s happening.”
“But just enjoy every second of it I guess. He’s a good man, he’s very intelligent and he seems very in tune with his young self.”
He also suggested that The Notebook actor could impart some musical knowledge on daughter, Esmeralda Amada.
“He has a band and he sings with a children’s choir. He’s a very talented musician and a very gifted guitar player and vocalist,” he said.
“He doesn’t parade it around a lot. He has an album out and he’s surrounded by this kid’s choir, so I guess my mind went to that when I think how great he’s going to be as a father.”
James – who you might recognise as Cyclops from the original X-Men trilogy – is quite the musician himself, and singing and dancing in the musical film, Hairspray.
So would he have a jam session with the Gos?
“We didn’t – but I would!” he said.
