Crayen interview Comments Off on James Marsden on His ‘Westworld’ Return, Those “Matrix Vibes” and Playing an Opposite Dynamic With Evan Rachel Wood
The more things change, the more they stay the same for Westworld star James Marsden.
His return to Westworld was confirmed for viewers in episode four, “Generation Loss,” for those who might not have guessed he was the hero from season four’s premiere who flitted from the shadows to save Christina from a panicked, unstable and now dead stalker Peter Myers (Aaron Stanford).
Shepherded to the “sublime” at the end of season two, it looked as if Teddy’s time in the HBO series’ universe had come to an end. But with his return, it seems like Marsden’s fan-favorite character got some kind of sentient upgrade while he was away for season three.

Crayen interview Comments Off on Westworld’s James Marsden On Teddy 3.0, And What He Knows
Given that this is a show about immortal, sentient robots, death means relatively little in Westworld. But one character has died more than any other at this point, James Marsden’s Teddy, clocking in reportedly at 4,000+ deaths, more than any other hosts during his ill-fated time in Westworld. But the last one seemed to stick at the end of season 2, given that he was gone for all of season 3.
Here in the unexpectedly great season 4, however, Teddy is back, and for once, seems to know a whole lot more about what’s going on than Dolores herself. While fans previously theorized that Dolores saved Teddy’s pearl from Westworld, we still know little about truly who this version of Teddy is, the full extent of what he knows, and what he’s planning next. So I tried to get James Marsden to tell me. Here’s our conversation:
PAUL: One thing I’ll say to start here is that I know this is Westworld, which has like the most mysteries of any show on TV, so I know there’s a bunch of stuff you can’t talk about yet, but I’ll do my best here.

Crayen interview Comments Off on James Marsden Knew About His ‘Westworld’ Return Back in Season 2: ‘It’s a Very Carefully Planned Artistic Journey’
James Marsden’s return to “Westworld” in Season 4 came as a delightful shock to many fans given his character’s death back in Season 2, but the actor has known about his return ever since he was first killed off. Creators and showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan sat Marsden down at the beginning of the HBO sci-fi series’ second season to tell him the story arc for Teddy, including his character’s death towards the end of the season. But at the same time, they told Marsden Teddy would return in Season 4.
“They sat me down before we shot one frame of film on Season 2 and before I’d read one page of a script and said, ‘Here’s what you’re doing all through Season 2, and then you go away in Season 3 and you come back in Season 4,’ and I’m like okay, you all have the whole thing mapped out,” Marsden told TheWrap in a recent interview about his return.
“It’s pretty brilliant. I know that they’re constantly evolving along the way and there’s obviously the rewrites here and there and scenes get moved around in the editing room, so it’s definitely a fluid thing, but the story, the themes that they want to explore and the overall macro story has always been intact there. They’re definitely not going figuring it out along the way. It’s a very, very carefully planned, artistic journey.”

Crayen interview Comments Off on James Marsden Says His Kids Are ‘Very Proud of Their Dad’ Amid ‘Sonic’ Success
It was a family affair at the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 premiere for James Marsden. ET’s Denny Directo spoke to the 48-year-old actor at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles Tuesday night, where he gushed over sharing the family-friendly sequel with his children.
“I feel like I am, but sometimes I get a little ahead of myself. We’ll see,” Marsden said about scoring cool points with his children, Jack, 21, Mary, 16 and William, 9, by bringing them to the premiere. “They’re very proud of their dad. And it’s fun to go see a movie that I can see and enjoy, my nine-year-old can see and enjoy, my 16-year-old, my 21-year-old. Good, family movie.”
For part two, Marsden and the Sonic the Hedgehog cast ventured out to Hawaii, which he called “the dream.”

Crayen news Comments Off on X-Men Star James Marsden Reveals if He’s Returning as Cyclops for Doctor Strange 2
We’re just a month away from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hitting theaters and anticipation for the film — and for what characters it might introduce into the Marvel Cinematic Universe — is growing. With the film taking things into the multiverse, fans can’t help but speculate that it might also see the incorporation of characters from other non-MCU Marvel films much like Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. One of the characters fans would like to see is X-Men hero, Cyclops and now actor James Marsden is addressing whether he will appear in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Speaking with Black Girl Nerds (via The Direct), Marsden said while it would be cool to see the X-Men world collide with the MCU, he’s not appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He also joked that, for that reason, he also had no plans to see the movie.
“No… I’m not,” Marsden said. “S, I’m not going to see it. [Laughs] I mean, that’d be cool to see those two worlds collide.”
