British Columbia-based Bron Studios has embarked on its first animated feature, Henchmen, a super-hero tale utilizing the voices of James Marsden, Thomas Middleditch, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina, Nathan Fillion, Jane Krakowski, Rob Riggle, Craig Robinson and Will Sasso.
Currently in production at the company’s studios in Burnaby and Duncan, B.C., the film is being written and directed by Adam Wood, animation director on Escape From Planet Earth and Space Chimps. A Bron Studios production in association with CW Media Finance, it is being produced by Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert and Luke Carroll and executive produced by Jason Cloth of CW Media Finance and Bron’s Brenda Gilbert. WME Global is handling sales of the film outside Canada. eOne Canada will distribute the picture in Canada
Middleditch plays a blue-collar worker named Lester who joins the Union of Evil, which is full of super-villains with evil schemes. Marsden plays a fallen hero who must step up to save Lester and his team.
Founded by Aaron L. Gilbert and Brenda Gilbert in 2010, Bron recently sold the Hank Williams drama I Saw the Light, starring Hiddleston, to Sony Pictures Classics and also is now producing the Ricky Gervais project Special Correspondents with Netflix.
