Actor James Marsden has come a long way from his debut role on 90’s sitcom The Nanny, having since starred in top-grossing films including X-Men and Emmy-nominated shows such as 30 Rock and Westworld. And like his roles, his watch game has also evolved over the years from classic sports models to refined makes by the likes of IWC Schaffhausen.

In 2020, the actor became an official ambassador for the Swiss luxury watchmaker after his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, placed an IWC watch on his wrist, sparking his newfound love for timepieces. Two years after starring in the watchmaker’s Born of a Dream short film alongside pro-footballer Tom Brady, Marsden stopped by the opening of IWC’s Palm Beach store opening this week to help unveil the brand’s “new look” and a special collection of haute horologerie.

While the configurator-crafted Ingenieur Chronograph he designed for the manufacturer in 2020 will not be available for purchase, you can expect to find 700 square feet of bestselling models on display at the new boutique for your own casual and formal occasions. Marsden hopped on a Zoom call with Robb Report, ahead of the Thursday night event, to talk his current watch collection, being a Ferrari fan and his love of stories behind a watch.

Amazon Freevee’s new docu-style comedy series Jury Duty is set to premiere with four episodes on April 7. The 8-episode multi-camera comedy starring James Marsden will drop two new episodes each Friday thereafter until April 21.

Deadline exclusively revealed the top secret project from Amazon Studios was in the works back in September. Watch the trailer above.

Jury Duty chronicles the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror, Ronald Gladden. Gladden is unaware the entire case is fake, everyone except him is an actor, including Marsden, and everything that happens — inside the courtroom and out — is carefully planned.

James Marsden knows he’s inescapable. “Someone yesterday said, ‘My son has Sonic on TV all day long, every day,’” he tells Rolling Stone. “I never know whether to apologize or not. Parents must be like, ‘I’m so sick of seeing that man’s face.’”

The self-effacing 49-year-old is in a state of disbelief over his volume of work this past year. He’s taken on the endearing Ben Wood and his Machiavellian twin Steve (in Netflix’s Dead to Me), the tender-hearted bounty hunter Teddy Flood (HBO’s Westworld), the fatherly sheriff Tom Wachowski (Sonic the Hedgehog 2) and the charmingly dimwitted King Edward (Disenchanted). “I had to be really careful about not spreading myself too thin and really give the characters their due,” he says. 

It’s also been a year of goodbyes for the veteran actor, who closed the book on Dead to Me, the recently canceled Westworld and Disenchanted, the long-awaited sequel to 2007’s Enchanted. “There were a lot of goodbyes this year,” Marsden says. “It was bittersweet.”

Michael Keaton, James Marsden, Marcia Gay Harden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig, Ray McKinnon, John Hoogenakker, Lela Loren and Al Pacino are starring in the noir thriller Knox Goes Away, which Keaton is directing. Principal photography recently wrapped on the project.

Keaton plays John Knox, a contract killer diagnosed with a fast-moving form of dementia. He vows to spend his final days attempting to redeem himself by saving the life of his estranged adult son (Marsden). He finds himself in a race against the authorities as well as the ticking clock of his own rapidly deteriorating mind.

With an original script by Gregory Poirier, the film is produced by Brookstreet’s Trevor Mathews and Nick Gordon along with Sugar23’s Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta, along with Keaton.
